I need to work into these but its a start. The themes behind these are China's one child policy (pulling narrative from The Little Matchgirl) and the persecution of women as witches (pulling narrative from The Mermaid).
These are bonkers. Very strong indeed. The research and narrative is great. The top one is much stronger than the bottom.
There is a need to neutralise, if that's the right word, its late! the colours. The gold works as it is garish but the rest and symbolic but the rest, I feel, needs to be a halftone or black and white or even greyscale?! The pattern at the bottom works really well.
Because you have set these out in portrait already it would be unusual and interesting to animate them in that format too. We'd have to do some messing about in the rendering and simple turn the TV screen, preferably a plasma so there isn't any pixel reference, on its side. What is your thoughts?!
I'm currently undertaking a part-time HND in Graphic Design at the Birmingham Metropolitan College FEED studio. I'm also Marketing Coordinator at Light House in Wolverhampton.
